Day 1: Houay Xai - Pakbeng, Mekong Cruise
Meet our team at the Chiang Khong immigration office. Departures: Oct-Apr: Mon, Thu, Fri, Sun; May-Sep: Mon, Fri. Arrive by 7:45 am. Board the shuttle to the Lao border, get a visa, and take a minivan to the slow boat pier. Enjoy lunch onboard. Visit Ban Keng Lae village. Arrive at Pakbeng for an overnight stay.
Note: Arrive at Chiang Khong Thai immigration border by 7:45 am. If already in Houay Xay, pick up at the hotel between 9-9:30 am. The boat departs Houay Xay by 10 am.Day 2: Pak Beng - Mekong Cruise
Depart Pakbeng at 8 am and immerse yourself in the stunning nature and jungle scenery during your journey. In the morning, our guide and cook will demonstrate how to make Lao desserts and local drinks, which you'll enjoy later in the afternoon. Make your first stop at Ban Baw village, renowned for its Lao Loun, Shan, and Tai Lue ethnicities, and famous for Lao whiskey making. Indulge in a Lao traditional lunch served onboard. In the afternoon, visit the Pak Ou Caves (Tham Ting), home to over two thousand Buddha statues, a significant pilgrimage site for Lao people. After the visit, savor homemade desserts and drinks prepared by our team and fellow travelers.
Day 3: Luang Prabang City Explorer
Commence your day at 8:00 am with a leisurely tour of Luang Prabang's old quarters, starting with a visit to the bustling Morning Market, offering fresh produce and exotic delicacies from local farmers. Stroll along the city's main street and explore the National Museum, once the residence of the Laotian Royal Family. Continue your exploration with visits to Wat Visoun, Wat Aham, Wat Xieng Thong, and Wat Mai, experiencing the spiritual and architectural grandeur of Laotian culture. Climb Phou Si Mountain for a breathtaking panoramic view of the city.
Day 4: Luang Prabang - Kuang Si Waterfalls
Wake up early to witness the sacred Lao tradition of Tak Bat (Almsgiving) and explore the vibrant Phousi Market.Travel by car to visit the stunning Kuang Si Waterfall, one of Southeast Asia's most beautiful waterfalls, and the Bear Rescue Centre. Experience the world of Lao textiles at Ock Pop Tok Weaving Centre, with the option to participate in weaving and dyeing classes. Don't miss indulging in buffalo milk ice cream at Buffalo Dairy!
Day 5: Departure
Enjoy some free leisure time before transferring to the airport for departure. Without guide.
